The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) is responsible for the country’s monetary policy decisions, like setting benchmark interest rates. RBNZ rate decisions are made by its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). The RBNZ changing or communicating a future change to official rate targets can have a material impact on domestic bond yields, like 10-year NZ bonds. If the Reserve Bank of New Zealand were to cut interest rates, for example, it would likely send Kiwi-area bond yields lower and fuel weakness across NZD price action.
