Webinar: UK Markets Alert for ECB Minutes, Fed Speakers

Nick Cawley, Senior Strategist

In this week’s webinar we highlighted two of the main asset market drivers this week, the latest ECB minutes and the views of eight Federal Reserve members. While ECB President Mario Draghi will rightly highlight the economic boom spreading through the Euro-Zone, traders will look for any clues about how the central bank will try and stoke under-performing inflation. And inflation will also be uppermost in the Fed’s thoughts especially with three rate hikes baked into the market for 2018.

Other UK topics covered include –

  • US inflation will be released on Friday and may turn a fraction lower.
  • UK PM Theresa May embarks on a cabinet reshuffle at the start of the week in an effort to stabilize the government and boost its credibility. And a new position – ‘minister for no Brexit deal’ – is likely to be created and may antagonize the EU.
