Forex: Beware, Dollar and S&P 500 Conditions Signal Extreme Risk

Forex: Beware, Dollar and S&P 500 Conditions Signal Extreme Risk

John Kicklighter, Chief Strategist

Already hollowed by record levels of leverage, the S&P 500 tried desperately to stay near 1,700 on the lowest week of volume in 15 years. Simultaneously, the USDollar suffered its worst week in 20 months. These conditions reflect extreme complacency alongside extraordinary risk. Positioning for a theme as immense as a revival of risk appetite-led trends should be held off until there is ample evidence. Yet, in the meantime, there are short-term trade setups that can exploit the current, uneasy balance. We discuss the warnings signs to watch along with opportunities in pairs like GBPUSD, USDJPY, EURJPY and others in the weekend video.

Keep track of the event risk that can move the markets and trigger the setups discussed in today's video with the DailyFX Economic Calendar!
