Despite a week that will be distorted for liquidity by the Fourth of July holiday in the US, the docket is as laden with important event risk as it is during peak periods. Event risk and thin trading typically translate into greater levels of volatility – a dangerous combination given the backdrop of the markets recently.

We are at critical market stage where a larger deleveraging move can take traction now or be deferred for weeks – if not longer – as the market awaits something more definitive than simple Taper speculation.

Top event risk – and thereby our DailyFX Plus event – this week is the US NFPs report. This indicator speaks directly to the Taper fears that were the source of the slump over the past few weeks.
