German Consumer Confidence Falls as Unemployment Rises

German GfK consumer confidence fell to 2.4 in April and the March reading was revised down to 2.5 from 2.6 reported initially. We had been looking for an April reading of 2.6 and our median was 2.7, so data were worse than expected and suggest that we might not yet have fully seen the bottoming out in confidence indicators.
