Reputation System Summary
DailyFX Forum’s user reputation system provides a way of rating users based on the quality of their posts. Users on this forum can add reputation points from other users by clicking the reputation link
in their posts. Each reputation nod (“I approve”) adds points to a member, and points are displayed by the badge icon.
Member reputations allow the users in our community to communicate to DailyFX and each other which members are seen as knowledgeable and help gauge the trading experience of individuals and reputation standings are displayed by the badge icon
. By default, new members and inexperienced members will start with a clean slate as one badge
below your name.
The DailyFX reputation management system is streamlined for simple functionality while still allowing the integrity of the system to be upheld by you – the members of the community. The more reputation points a member receives for their quality, informative, and helpful posts, the higher your status and the more reputation badges you will see, up to 10. Additionally, the more reputation points you have as a member, the higher impact your reputation nods affect other members. For example, a brand new member that gives a reputation nod to a fellow member will only add 1 reputation point while an experienced member or DailyFX Moderator that gives a member a reputation nod will add 10 reputation points.
Reputation Nods Guidelines
This system was designed with you in mind and it is up to the community to use it wisely. The system was built on the notion that experienced traders have a lot to offer to the community and should be easily and visibly recognized. All members of the forum can benefit from each other in different ways and through interaction and use of this unique system; we can help each other to have meaningful and serious conversations about the market and trading as a community. In return, we will see members experience and trading knowledge grow both through interactions and visually with the reputation system.
Adding to a member’s reputation
The important thing to remember is that the integrity of the system is maintained by the community and each reputation nod should be used with some consideration. A reputation nod should be given to a post that clearly took some thought, offered some good insight, or was genuinely helpful for the community or particular conversation/thread.
Conversely, this should not be used as a “LIKE” button like other popular social media sites. For example, if someone simply makes a post and states “trader will short EUR/USD at 1.2900 and place a take profit order 50 pips away,” the post likely does not warrant adding to the member’s rating. However, if it is before a big news announcement or the technical trader explains their thought process and analysis behind a trade in addition to posting the exact phrase above, then this may be something worthy of getting a reputation nod for the particular post.
